The SIPOC process mapping is a tool for representing the component processes of any operating sequence in detail, showing the characteristic parameters, and being able to appraise possible problems in the process at an early stage. For this reason, the internal and external suppliers (sub-contractors and service providers) are included. Their input (initial parameters, services and products) is comprehensively described. The process (the actual operating procedure) is evaluated with all of its influencing parameters, risks, and potentials. The output (result of the operating procedure) is specified. And finally, the customer is added as the last mapping parameter.
The more smoothly the sequence is built, the more transparent possible sources of error are, and the fewer interruptions are recognizable, therefore: the more efficiently one works, the more profitable the parcel service is.
